AN elderly man who downloaded thousands of images of child pornography has been branded "perverted" by a judge.

Christopher Sims, 69, of Littlemoor Road, Mark, has been warned he could be sent to prison after admitting three counts of making indecent images and photos of children.

He downloaded 13 photos and 12 videos of category A, classed by Judge David Ticehurst at Taunton Crown Court as "the most obscene and disgusting images available".

He also stored five videos and one photo of category B and 2,307 photos and five videos of category C.

Sims initially told police during a 42-minute interview he was not responsible for the images and that his computer had been hacked.

The judge adjourned the case until July 10 for pre-sentence reports, warning married father-of-two grown-up daughters Sims, who has no previous convictions, that jail is "a distinct possibility".

Judge Ticehurst told Sims, who was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register: "I wonder how you'd feel if they were being abused at the age of six or seven in order to provide some satisfaction to perverted individuals like you."
