VOLUNTEERS from Burnham-on-Sea's BARB Search and Rescue took part in a sand hole collapse rescue exercise.
More than 80 people took part in the exercise on Berrow beach yesterday (July 5) including representatives from Burnham Coastguard, firefighters, beach wardens and ambulance staff
A spokesman for BARB said:"Despite it being one of the warmest evenings of the year, the 80 crewmembers dug with their hands deep into the sand dunes to try and reach a 'buried casualty' following a sand hole collapse.
"This was team work at its strongest.
"Hopefully, we will never need to use the skills in a real-life incident, but we are trained and ready to use them if needed."
