THE public toilets in Highbridge's Bank Street were damaged in a suspected arson attack yesterday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to the scene shortly before 3pm on Tuesday, December 12 after reports of smoke issuing from the toilets.

Crews quickly got to work with a hose reel jet, breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "We believe the fire was started deliberately. It caused 10% fire damage and 40% smoke damage to the building."
