The heartbroken family of Highbridge woman Laura Biss have paid tribute to her describing her as 'a fantastic mother' and 'a great sister'.

The body of Laura Biss was found on the B3139 Burnham Road, in Highbridge, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In a statement published by Avon and Somerset Police, Laura's family said: “Laura was a beautiful daughter, a fantastic mother and a great sister.

"She was sensitive, caring and compassionate and would think nothing of going out of her way to help others.

“She had a great sense of humour which made her very popular. She touched so many people’s lives in a positive way.

“She was also a talented artist, who had a great future ahead of her.

“Words cannot express what her loss means to all her family and friends – we are heartbroken and totally devastated.

“We would like the media to leave us alone at this time to grieve privately.”

Christopher Harris, of no fixed address who was charged with the murder of Laura, as well as causing death by dangerous driving appeared at Taunton Deane Magistrates Court today where he was remanded in custody to appear at Exeter Crown Court on Thursday (January 25).
