A NEW school will be built in Highbridge as part of £140 million investment in children and young people from Somerset County Council, the council has confirmed. 

On Monday (January 22) County Hall announced the county council will be investing £140 million in children and young people and plan to build 24 new or replaced and expanded schools around the county over the next seven to 10 years.

14 new schools will be built across Somerset including one in Highbridge. 

A spokesperson for Somerset County Council, said: “The intention is for a new primary school to be built in Highbridge providing a minimum of 200 spaces, meeting the demand created by the proposed Brue Farm development.

"The details of how and when this will be delivered is still being planned and will become clearer as time goes on."
