FOUR talented gymnasts from Monarch's Gymnastics Club narrowly missed out on a British Championship Title after taking part in a gymnastics competition.
Gymnasts from the Highbridge club went to Stoke on Trent on March 3 and battled it out against clubs from across the country for the top spot.
Alice Kelson and her partner Evie Tissington and Joe Blake and his partner Kian Hawkes missed out on winning the British Championship title and came in second place.
Mandy Warburton from Monarch's Gymnastics Club, said: "This was a huge success for such a small club of approximately 70 competitive gymnasts and probably the smallest.
"We were competing against clubs who have over 1,000 gymnasts in their clubs with their highest level gymnasts training for 20 plus hours a week."
Here is the full list of results:
12-18 womens pairs - Alice Kelson and Evie Tissington - 2nd place and silver medals
12-18 mens pairs - Joe Blake and Kian Hawkes - 2nd place
12-18 womens group - Eloise Baker, Heather Reed and Olivia Reed - 14th
11-16 mens pair - Joe Reed and Mason Wall - 5th
11-16 womens group - Ornela Velaj, Jinny Agar and Ava Debonis - 16th
The next competition for the younger age groups will be the South West Prelims, where only the gymnasts gaining 1st places will go through to a national final also held in Stoke on Trent.
The club is hoping to take a team of senior gymnasts to Wales in April for the Welsh Invitational Competition, which is the first for the club.
