Record breaking bid for town charity

A CHARITY based in Highbridge is taking part in a record-breaking musical for the blind.

The National Blind Children's Society has teamed up with national organisation VocalEyes and West End production Les Miserables in a bid to break the world record for the largest audience at an audio-described musical.

The local charity will be taking a party of visually impaired youngsters and their families to the performance at the Queen's Theatre in London on Saturday.

The event is expected to attract the largest audience of its kind to qualify for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.

The group of children, who have been given complimentary tickets to the show, will enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the theatre before the matinee performance.

NBCIS chief executive Carolyn Fullard said: “Audio-described theatre and other performances are a very important part of our programme of events which help children with visual impairment widen their experiences and participate fully in cultural life.

“We are very grateful to VocalEyes and Les Misérables for making this exciting day possible and wish them every success in their attempt to set a new record.”
