Slimmers raise cash for Secret World

A GROUP of Sedgemoor slimmers may be shedding the pounds – but they are piling them on for a local charity.

Members of the ‘7lb club’, which was launched at Secret World in East Huntspill last September, have so far lost 223lbs between them.

But the group is unique because at every weekly weigh-in slimmers donate their membership fee to the wildlife rescue charity, and have so far raised more than £650.

One member Mary Johnson has managed to raise £153.50 for Secret World by getting people to sponsor her personal weight loss mission.

Sandra Bartlett from Burnham runs the group and said: “My main aim will be to help people achieve their first 7lb weight loss in a relaxed and supportive group and at the same time help a worthy cause.” She is now seeking new members from the Bridgwater, Burnham, and surrounding areas, who want to lose weight and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

The group meets every Monday at 7pm at Secret World. For more information call Sandra on 01278-782118.
