A MAN who caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage at a property in Mark has mental health issues, a court has heard.

Joshua Roberts, 20, pleaded guilty last week to charges of criminal damage and using violence to secure entry to premises.

Sedgemoor Magistrates’ Court heard last Thursday how Roberts damaged stables, a chair and part of a wall at an address in Littlemoor Road in August.

He has since written a letter of apology to his victims.

Sedgemoor Magistrates’ Court heard he had been distressed and ‘screamed off’ in his car that night, but was more stable now he was having counselling.

Chairman of the bench, Mike Dodden, said he was concerned by a doctor’s letter, which said Roberts was unwell and would struggle to carry out a community order.

He called for a psychiatric report and adjourned the case until December 2.

Roberts, of Westfield Lane, Draycott, was released on bail on the condition he does not contact the victims, or enter Littlemoor Road in Mark. He is also prohibited from entering Brent Knoll, or within 100 metres of the Water Café, in Cheddar.
