The fire and rescue service was called out
The Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service were called out to rescue a child whose foot had become stuck on a metal spike in East Huntspill between Highbridge and Bridgwater.
At around 2pm today the service were called to Withy Road in the Somerset village. They said: "A fire engine from Burnham-on-Sea was sent to a report of a 9 year old boy with his foot impaled on the top of a metal gate.The crew attended and released the boy's foot from the gate using small tools. He was then left in the care of his parents who were also in contact with Ambulance."
