IN the wake of Hinkley C finally getting the go-ahead, the Bridgwater Mercury has been out in the town trying to find out your views.

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Terry Hurford, 76, Bridgwater
"I am worried about the cost they have agreed to pay for Hinkley C. When there are people who need food banks you have to wonder if it is the best use of money."

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Diana Martin, 72, Cannington
"The traffic through Cannington is awful, there are constantly lorries coming through, the bypass has helped but only so much. It has been obvious it is going ahead, but I think I would rather sea windmills out in the sea like in Cornwall."

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Danielle Hope, 32, Bridgwater
"I am on the fence when it comes to nuclear power but I think it will provide jobs and money for the local economy. I am concerned about the amount of traffic that will come through but it will provide a lot of much-needed skilled jobs."

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Patricia Jeffrey, 81, Bridgwater
"I just think there are better things they could do, things that would be better for the environment. They say it will create a lot of jobs but the last time they brought in a lot of people from elsewhere."

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Gail Fry, 60, Bridgwater
"I am completely behind it. It will bring skilled jobs that the area needs, it is a scary amount of money but could really be a boost for Bridgwater."

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Barry Richards, 48, Burnham
"I think it is good news, you've got to look forward - you cannot look back. The old station is becoming more run down and the new one will be built with the latest technology."

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Katerina Fones, 52, Burnham
"I live in Burnham and you can see Hinkley from the beach. My husband is a lecturer at Bridgwater College and they will be running courses for new employees. But on a personal level I am a little bit reluctant - it is good for the local economy but I know a lot of people are worried about it."

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

Gilbert Penwell, 74, Bridgwater
"I do have concerns about how long it will take to build, they say 10 years but there will probably be delays, but I am pleased it will bring jobs to the area."
