A LORRY has crashed into the central reservation on the M5 Northbound following a multi-vehicle crash near Bridgwater this morning.
The lorry crashed shortly before 7am this morning (Tuesday, January 10) between Junction 24 Bridgwater South and Junction 23 Bridgwater North.
The crash left the M5 blocked northbound, and motorists faced lengthy delays on the road.
The road has now been cleared but Highways say the backlog of traffic will take some time to clear.
The southbound carriageway was blocked as authorities deal with the incident.
Two lanes were closed and cars queued back to J25, Taunton.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called at 6.50am to a road traffic collision on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between J24 and J23 involving a HGV which had hit the central reservation.
"Several other vehicles were involved in the incident but thankfully no-one was injured.
"The HGV was left blocking three lanes however at around 7.30am Lane 1 and the hard shoulder re-opened."
