A BISHOP'S Hull mum is hoping to bring smiles to the faces of children at Musgrove Park Hospital ward with a mammoth book delivery.

Jamie Jones is appealing to individuals, businesses and organisations to help towards her fundraising target for a literary donation to the Taunton hospital's children's ward.

As an independent organiser for children’s book publishers Usborne Books at Home if she can raise £600, Usborne will add a further £400 in books bringing the total to £1,000 of reading material and activity books for youngsters spending time on the ward.

Mrs Jones, 35, said: “Books offer the chance of escaping to another world and can take your mind off whatever else is going on – what better thing to offer young people having to spend time in hospital?

“It's a big target but I'm determined to reach it. Any donations however big or small would be very gratefully received.

"It would be amazing to be able to do this for the children going through such a tough time.”

Caroline Jackson, ward sister at Musgrove, said: “We are always very grateful for donations to the children’s unit and a range of books will be lovely to be able to give to the children to occupy them throughout their stay in hospital.

“They can also be used as distraction and reward for having to undergo necessary investigations or procedures.”
