LINDA Thompson, 72, shows you’re never too old to embrace social media.

The businesswoman and craft enthusiast, who owns Chaplins stores in Plymouth and Taunton, posted a video on social media offering her expertise on wool to a customer.

The video was broadcast as a Facebook Live video on the company’s social media page and shows her talking to a customer about wool they had purchased and promoting other offers in store.

Linda said she came up with the idea to create the video so she could tell customers about offers and products in the store quickly and easily.

"I just thought we would do it for a change, " Linda said.

"We have been in Taunton for 26 years and have spent so much money over the years on newspaper advertising to get our name out there and I just think you can get things out there much more quickly and easily on social media.

"We have got such a big range of wool at the moment and some great offers on and I wanted to share that with customers."

In the video a customer described the wool she bought from the store as 'beautiful' and said she is enjoying using it to knit a cardigan for her four-year-old granddaughter.

Linda said the feedback to the video has been 'really positive' and said she has no plans to stop filming.

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News:

"We have so many things going on at the store so we are definitely going to do more videos," Linda said.

"There is a knitting craze going on at the moment so we will be doing more videos about our wool and we are just about to start pebble painting and card making so there will be a video about that.

"We have had a really positive response and will continue making videos in the future."
