SOMERSET Rebels' jubilation over the win against Redcar was quickly tempered with the news that Tom Brown has been ruled out for the next few weeks with a fractured collarbone.
Brown was involved in a crash in heat seven of the meeting and Rebels general manager David Croucher said: “Tom had a really awkward fall coming into turn three when his bike threw a chain.
“Despite his 3.30 average, Tom has been collecting six points at the Oak Tree Arena most weeks and it is going to leave a big gap in the line up.
“Nick Simmons stepped up to the plate from the other reserve berth and had a superb night, but we need to run a seven man team and a search is now on for a temporary replacement for Tom.
“Doctors have suggested he will be out for three to four weeks. Tom hopes to be back in two, but we shall have to see.”
“First priority is finding a guest for our league meeting on Wednesday against Birmingham meeting at Perry Barr and we will take it from there."
