Somerset County Premier League

Stockwood Green 0, Berrow 2

A GOAL either side of half-time saw Berrow get back to winning ways with a professional performance at Stockwood.

Top scorer Connor Watts (injured) and Tom Marshfield were missing so Harry Penfold and Phil Hartnup returned to the starting line-up.

After a quiet opening ten minutes, Stockwood were first to threaten with a quick counter- attack, Ash Harrison saving well when one-on-one with the striker.

This seemed to wake Berrow and Jeff Read and Penfold both went close to getting the opening goal.

Ellis Harper was causing problems down the right and should have won a penalty when he was tripped in the box but the ref decided it was accidental and waved play on.

The game took a turn on the half-hour mark when Harper was sent off for a dangerous tackle; the victim, a Stockwood defender, also saw a red card for retaliation.

Ten minutes later, Berrow got back on top and took the lead when Josh White flicked on a Luke McErlain free kick and Luke Morgan slotted home from six yards.

The second half continued as the first had ended with half-chances for McErlain and Morgan as Berrow looked to increase their lead and, on 55 minutes, White did just that, heading home a McErlain corner to make it 2-0.

Stockwood pushed to get back into the game but were reduced to long shots that Harrison dealt with comfortably.

Man of the match (sponsored by Holley and Steer): was Phil Hartnup.

Team: Harrison, Gass, White, Penfold, John (Vickery), Hartnup, Read, McErlain, Bellinger (Catlow), Morgan (Radford), Harper.
