MANAGER Luke Hussey branded his side’s defeat as the worst performance since he took over at the helm.

Despite poor weather conditions, Burnham were able to return to action after a five -eek break but a goal in each half ruined any hopes of a win.

Hussey said: “It was quite frustrating to watch. We didn't execute our game-plan or play to our strengths.

“We trained hard over the enforced break but there is no substitute for playing and we looked rusty and out of form.

“I am confident we will bounce back next week.”

It took two pitch inspections and hard work to prepare the pitch to ensure it got the go-ahead.

But United got off to the worst possible start as Keynsham scored from an excellent counter-attack that culminated in a classy finish inside the first five minutes.

United were in danger of being overrun in the early exchanges but started to settle and initiate some momentum.

Ell Lamb and Steve Leaf were becoming a constant threat down the left flank. They linked up with the ever-reliable Warren Whitfield who created a chance for Ed Lamb to finish in style from the edge of the box. But confusion reigned as a late flag saw the effort ruled out.

Both teams continued to try and play a passing game on an ever-deteriorating pitch.

After the break, United couldn’t find any rhythm or maintain any meaningful possession and never really threatened.

Will Lamb was called upon and made an outstanding save but it was on 65 minutes the game was taken beyond United as Keynsham worked another opening and this time gave Lamb no chance.

United made changes to chase the game and saw Craig Hirons and Matt Scott come on and make an impact although only one clear-cut chance was created.

Man-of-the-match: Warren Whitfield.
