BURNHAM completed their eighth win of the season in a low scoring affair with second bottom side Berry Hill.

Their preparation was hindered by the absence of Alan House, George Scott (both holidays), Stuart Blake (work) and Bryan Webb (broken leg).

Burnham started the strongest and were rewarded with several scrums on Berry Hill’s line which resulted in three penalties to Burnham and in the end they elected to kick for three points which was converted by Rio Cooper.

Opportunities were few and far between so when the time arrived The Stags got themselves another penalty which again was converted by Cooper; this was to take the score to 6-0 at half time.

At the start of the second half, the pitch and weather was taking a turn for the worst and was making a flowing game very difficult.

Burnham tightened up their defence and produced another solid display especially young Ben Stacey who made some heroic tackles and a try saving take at a lineout.

With some last chance attempts by Berry Hill to score, Burnham held out for a very solid win and have now won four out of their last five games.

Next up for the team is a trip to Bristol Harlequins on Saturday. Kick-off is 3pm.
