Highbridge and District skittle league report

In the Knock-Out Cup quarter finals, The Little Acorns amassed a totaol of 529 at the Ritz Social Club as they defeated the Crown Criminals by 33 pins.

Paul MaClanaghan 79, Wayne Hand 78 and Andrew Bridgwater 76 were the chief scorers. At the Berrow Inn in a all first division clash the Bombers got the better of The Poachers as they won by 8 pins, the win keeps the Bombers hopes of the "double" well on track. Third division side, The Hedgejumpers great cup run came to a halt at the Watchfield Inn, as they went down by 25 pins to the Rogues for whom Richard May top scored with 75, the last team to make up the quartet will be the Steamers who had a narrow 3 pin victory over the Social Club at the Basonbridge Inn, the Steamers were indebted to Chris Orledge's 74 for there victory.

In the second chance cup, The Four Finger Club scored 520 at the Pawlett Pavillion as they defeated the Robins by 25 pins, " Bones " Martin Bowermen took the honours after scoring 76.

The Tryer's were 23 pins to good for the Berrow Hotel at the Lympsham Pavillion, but it took two good last hands of 78 and 74, to shake off the Berrow Boys, Keith Bird top scored with 71 for the Tryer's, Feddy Marsh's 77 was all in vain for the Berrow. The Cowboy's defeated the Alleycats by 33 pins at the Basonbridge Inn, Jason Parsons top scored with 72. Berrow Basics defeated If Only by 17 pins at the Crossways Inn, If Only's, Steve Woods started with a 24 double flopper, but must of gone into a state of shock as he only scored 25 pins with his next five hands !

In a rearranged match in division four, the Rovers amassed a terrific total of 548 at the Pawlett Legion as they defeated the Legionaires by 58 pins, Bob Parish and Paul Massey scored 79 a piece, while Jim Wright chipped in with 76, Tony Mansfield topped the board with 80 for the losers.

The Interleague match against the Weston Central Leg, takes place this saturday 23rd febuary, the first leg is at Hornets Rugby Club. We are now into our 24th year and the H&DSL lead 13 - 10.
