BURNHAM got back to winning ways in fine conditions at the BASC on Saturday against a strong Cirencester side.

The home side flew out of the blocks and immediately applied the pressure and from a lineout on the oppositions five metre line the ball was spun back out to the blind where Piper was lurking to score in the corner to make it 5-0.

Cirencester came back into it with a penalty but Burnham went back up to the other end to land a penalty of their own to put the score to 8-3.

Burnham extended that lead to 15-3 when from a scrum and several pushes to the line they scored their 15th pushover try of the season with Stuart Blake the scorer and Piper adding the extras.

The visitors scored before the break though to make it 15-10 at half-time.

Burnham started the second half well and Rich Muskett beat four defenders to storm in from 45 metres following good work from Piper, who converted to extend their lead to 22-10.

Cirencester scored an unconverted try before Sam Coles bulldozed his way over from five metres to keep Burnham's lead intact.

The match was all-but sealed when great vision from Elisi Vunipola saw him beckon Piper to chip kick to Matt Love, who was in space, and he ran in to make it 36-15.

There was a final score for the visitors but the match ended in Burnham's favour.

This Saturday, Burnham play host to Wells along with their old boys reunion day and sponsors day where a big crowd is expected. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
