GRAHAM Exton will represent Brean Golf Club in the Regional Final of the National PGA Pro Am with partner professional David Haines after a superb card of 44 points in the qualifying event.

His score was good enough to win by one from Jason Kidley and ended two ahead of Neil Barker in third spot. Matching Barker’s score was Alan Marshall but he missed out on a top three finish following a countback.

The Winter League qualification period is almost at an end with just one more round available for the players to accumulate points to their totals.

In the penultimate round, Russell Shaw was the winner with an excellent 45 point haul. He won the competition by just a single point, though, on a day of good scoring as super Senior Pat Mullholland chased him all the way with his 44 point card.

Another Senior rounded out the top three as, yet again, Roger Phillips featured in the prizes with his 41-point total.

Next Saturday is the final qualifying round before the Grand Final takes place on Easter Sunday when the overall winner will be crowned.

The Seniors version of the Winter League has already been concluded with Dai Wood ending as the winner.

The final round was played as a Chinese Greensomes format with the winning pair of Barrie Tucker and Roger Phillips being the only duo to top the 40-point mark as they handed in a card of 41.

Three points behind them in second spot were Pete Douglas and George Stratford with 38 whilst Bob Hurrell and Mike Allen took third position on 35.

This result meant that, at the end of long and often frustrating winter weather wise, it was Wood who emerged as the overall winner of the Seniors Winter League title.
