A YOUNG Burnham side lost to fifth place side Chosen Hill at the weekend with four of the Colts team called into action.
Mike Nash made his debut and there were starts for John Edwards, Ben Stacey and Alex Watkins.
Burnham started well and astute kicking from Elisi Vunipola constantly put Chosen Hill on to the back foot and it wasn’t long before the home side got on to the score board through captain Russ Pike who danced his way past three defenders, which Piper converted.
Burnham kept on the pressure and were again rewarded for their efforts through Josh Holder who barrelled his way over from five yards for a converted try to make it 14-0.
The home side were pegged back just before half-time though as Chosen Hill recorded a converted try.
With the second half under way, the weather changed for the worse with the rain making it difficult for both sets of players struggling to make do with the slippery ball.
Chosen hit back with two converted tries to put themselves into the lead and despite Mike Hocking smashing through for a try, Chosen hit back with two more at the other end to pull away and finish the game 19-31 winners.
This Saturday, the team travel to bottom of the table Yatton.
*THE second team were out of action last week but will now turn their attentions to a home clash against Wyvern this Saturday.
