Huntspill & District 171-8 beat Fitzhead 170 by 8 wkts

HUNTSPILL failed to win two games all year last season but made it two wins in as many weeks with a two wicket win away at Fitzhead.

Huntspill were forced into six changes from the previous week and relied on Tippetts and Organ to make inroads with the new ball.

Tippetts (1-35) got the first wicket with the score on 37 getting Oliver caught at cover by Lillycrop but Burns remained the danger as he past 50 and continued to punish any loose delivery bowled.

However with Burns on 74 and Fitzhead on 118, he edged a short wide delivery from Cavill straight to Matt Counsell who was standing in as wicket keeper to spark a mini collapse with Lillycrop (1-30) and Dave Counsell taking three quick wickets.

Bellringer (54) remained firm but Dave Counsell continued to roll back the years and proceeded to run through the Fitzhead batting line up with a superb and devastating spell of bowling clean bowling four players en route to figures of 5-24 as Fitzhead closed on 170.

Huntspill got off the a superb start with Lillycrop and Cavill putting on a 50 run opening stand with little trouble before Cavill (26) chipped to mid wicket.

Crawford raced to 22 with two huge sixes but he was trapped LBW and when Tippetts fell for five Huntspill were 98-3.

Matt Counsell was next in with Lillycrop, who brought up his 50 as he held the Huntspill innings together.

Counsell (11) fell after a huge six and then Calvin Christopher fell without troubling the scorers with Huntspill still needing 50 for victory.

Organ (19) and Lillycrop powered Huntspill within ten runs of victory but Lillycrop fell for 73 and then Organ and Jordan Podbury followed.

But teenager Dave Dixon-Bell held his nerve by coolly striking his third ball through the covers for four and Dave Counsell flicking the winning boundary.

Next week Huntspill are home in a local derby against Mark.
