Depleted Berrow slump to defeat
4:57pm Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in Sport
BERROW 1 CLUTTON 3
A DEPLETED Berrow fell to a 3-1 home defeat to newly-promoted Clutton on Saturday.
Missing six first-choice players, Berrow put in a poor performance, falling two goals behind in the first half.
Ross McErlain pulled one back for the hosts, but Clutton added a third late on to condemn Berrow to a heavy defeat.
Berrow had started the game on top and nearly went in front when Luke Morgan hit the post after good work from Ross McErlain.
But Clutton were soon in front when a Berrow failed to deal with a free kick into the penalty area and a defender turned the ball into his own net.
And it was two just before the break when another free-kick provided a Clutton player with a free header; an invitation that was duly accepted.
Berrow’s usual passing game seemed to desert them, and despite dominating the second-half they were far from their best.
Ross McErlain smashed home from 25 yards to bring Berrow back into the game, but a breakaway goal in the final minute rounded off a disappointing afternoon for the home side.
