Berrow slump to disappointing defeat

Errea County Premier
Stockwood Green 3, Berrow 1
BERROW slumped to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Stockwood on Saturday, as poor defending once again cost them dearly.
After an even first 15 minutes, it was the home side who took the lead when Berrow failed to clear the ball, and a cross into the box was turned home from six yards.
Berrow began to grow into the game and nearly drew level but a Jason Kilduff cross just evaded the onrushing strikers.
The visitors were then awarded a penalty but Ross McErlain saw his effort brilliantly saved by the Stockwood keeper. And matters were made worse for Berrow when a defensive slip led to a second Stockwood goal.
Pete John replaced Mike Charlton at half-time making a welcome return from injury as Berrow searched for a way back into the game.
McErlain was taking control of the midfield and driving Berrow forward, and his lofted through ball put Luke Morgan in but his lob landed on the roof of the net with the keeper stranded.
Mike Green replaced Kilduff as Berrow battled on without really threatening.
They did pull a goal back when Jack Taylor headed home from ten yards but could not force an equaliser, and Stockwood made it three in the last minute with a fine 25-yard strike.
Berrow: Slack, Osgood, Charlton (John), Penfold, Harper, McErlain, Kilduff (Green), Hartnup, Vincent, Morgan, Taylor.
