Burnham II 45, Taunton III 39

BURNHAM seconds edged a thrilling match against Taunton by just six points, on an afternoon that saw 84 points.

James Python opened the scoring for Burnham before adding a second swiftly after.

The visitors mounted a forwards attack and were awarded a penalty which was converted - followed by a forwards drive that saw them crossing the home side’s line.

Osgood scored shortly after half-time and Somerhayes collected his own kick to score another. Taunton replied with two scores of their own, before Python completed his hat-trick for Burnham. A neat passage of play then saw Matt Mitchell cross the line, but Taunton weren’t finished there and a late rally brought the scores a little closer.

Burnham’s defence held firm to secure the win in an enthralling game.
