IAN Adams produced an excellent round in Saturday's Winter League round to accumulate 45 points and take the victory.

Usually a mid forties score would herald a comfortable victory but on this occasion he only prevailed by a single point from a duo on 44.

Of the two players scoring that figure, Phil Hodgson defeated Club Chairman Tony Roper on countback with the better back nine score.

Hodgson's ever improving handicap was reduced again to stand at an impressive figure of seven.

Roper however still had reason to celebrate as he scored a hole in one at the par three second. With the club rules as they are he scooped the whole two's pot for the day with that shot but came very close to having to share it with him himself as he came within inches of repeated the rare feat of an ace at the short 17th.

Big hitting left hander Pete Douglas won the December Seniors Monthly Stableford.

His 40 point scorecard saw him end the day 3 points clear of a pair of Barrie's.

Barrie Tucker pipped Barrie Yearsley for second spot on countback after they had both returned 37points.

When an uneven number of players turn up for a Seniors Winter League competition they have a policy in place of using another players score as a 'dummy' to make up the numbers.

On this occasion the selected 'dummy' actually featured in the leading two teams as two scores from each team counted at each hole.

Barrie Yearsley and Mike Haskins plus their 'dummy' score of Charlie Hastie totalled a score of 143 on a cold and windy day at Brean to win by one.

Hastie also featured in the second placed trio in his drawn team with Bill Griffin and Ken Ponter which ended one shot behind.

Third spot went to Tony Roper, Pete Douglas and Len Young with 146 Results 03.12.13 Seniors Stableford 1, Pete Douglas 40pts 2, Barrie Tucker 37pts 3, Barrie Yearsley 37pts 05.12.13 Seniors Winter League 1, Barrie Yearsley, Mike Haskins & (Charlie Hastie) 143 2, Bill Griffin, Ken Ponter & Charlie Hastie 144 3, Tony Roper, Pete Douglas & Len Young 146 07.12.13 Winter League 1, Ian Adams 45pts 2, Phil Hodgson 44pts 3, Tony Roper 44pts
