IT HAS been a busy few weeks for Burnham-on-Sea Swimming Club, with two successful gala appearances.

First, they travelled to Easton, in Bristol, to swim in the first Cotswold Series gala.

The host club was Bristol North Swimming Club and it was an exciting gala – with Burnham and Bristol North fighting for first place until the last four races.

Burnham finished second on 153 points, eight points behind eventual winners Bristol North.

There were 20 personal best times and 13 individual first places in the Burnham squad – with strong performances from Morgan Rose and Nathan Clarke in the 15 and under group, Tom Dollery, Mattihas Benischke and George Talbot in the 11 and under group and Liam Reddish in the freestyle relay.

The 11 and under girls had first places in the medley relay, individual butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke, and second place in freestyle relay and individual freestyle.

The successful swimmers were Lauren Treharne, Olivia Dollery, Harriet Puddy, Josie Hooper and Naomi Pollard.

Fifteen and under girls Hannah Bray, Josie Dollery, Issy Baines had first or second places in all their individual races, and first in both of the relays with the help of Ella Dollery.

Lewis Plume took first place in the individual butterfly and Ella Dollery won both of her individual races.

At the Four Seasons gala at Brean Splash, Josie Hooper and Liam Reddish took first place in breaststroke, Harry Morgan first place in freestyle and Mattihas Benischke first place in butterfly.

The 10 and under boys had first place in the freestyle relay – with strong showings from Oliver Clarke, Sam Ashton, Mattihas Benischke and Liam Reddish.
