ELITE sports coaches, Simon Martin and Gary Carter, have joined the coaching staff at Bridgwater College's Team BC.

Simon Martin will work with Team BC Rugby and will hope to maintain the team's unbeaten record so far this season.

Simon is a former professional with Bristol RFC, Coventry RFC and has extensive coaching experience with Taunton RFC and Bridgwater and Albion RFC.

He will balance his work with Team BC alongside his current employment as a professional sports coach.

Gary Carter will work with basketball Head Coach, Richard Anderson and brings a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge to the programme.

Gary is a Level 3 basketball coach and has had national league coaching roles with Taunton Tigers and in Europe with Red Star Belgrade.

He has worked for Somerset Activity Sports Partnership delivering specialised PE sessions and CPD for teachers for over eight years.

Luke Buckingham, Sports Development Manager at the College said: “We are delighted to welcome Simon and Gary as part of our coaching team. They both have outstanding knowledge in their sports and bring with them a wealth of experience that can only benefit our students.

“Simon's experience as a professional athlete and his links to elite level rugby will provide an exciting opportunity for our players to develop even further.

“Gary has already played a significant role in the development of some of our top basketball players and his experience working in Europe will add a new dimension to our programme.”
