BURNHAM United Under-16s will be looking to make it a league and cup double this weekend.

The youngsters take on Ashton Boys, of Bristol, in the Somerset County Cup final at Street Football Club on Sunday.

The game, which kicks-off at 5.15pm, follows on from the team’s success in the league.

Burnham secured their second consecutive Division 1 title with a 5-1 victory over Kewstoke last week.

Director of football Daren Podbury said: “It has been a very long and hard season for the boys who had been asked to play 11 league and cup matches in April, which professional teams would struggle to play.

“Due to ongoing injuries, suspensions and unavailability, a number of games were played with fewer than 11 players but the boys who played each game always gave their all.

“Many congratulations must go to manager Carl James and the whole squad who will surely now go down in history as Burnham’s most successful team.”
