GOLF: Dixon’s dream start continues

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News: GOLF: Dixon’s dream start continues GOLF: Dixon’s dream start continues

DAVID Dixon’s dream start to the season continued at Rosson- Wye, where he stormed to another sensational win after an incredible round of low scoring.

Dixon’s faultless eight-under-par 64 included an eagle on the third, and he was six under after another birdie at the eighth following earlier bonuses at the first, fifth and sixth.

He picked up further shots at the 15th and 16th to add to 11 pars.

The Enmore Park touring player’s £580 cheque took his earnings to more than £6,000 from regional events this season, and he is playing with an assured confidence that marks him as favourite each time he tees up.

His season started with a fourth place in the Cornish Festival, and after finishing second in the Mitie Pro Am at Bigbury he won the Saunton Classic Order of Merit, and followed with triumphs at Minchinhampton and Sherborne.

Dixon tied in third place in the Total Triumph Classic, the second OOM tournament at Oake Manor, and holds a handsome lead in the rankings.

For good measure, he also won six Gloucester and Somerset PGA medals during the winter.

Dixon’s feat helped his amateur trio of Colin Price, Charles Walker and Alan Price win the team prize on 86 points.

Late starter Christian Vine (Woodbury Park), with Dale Gribble, Tim Kefalas and Warren Moore, were only one shot behind, while Langdon’s team of Charles Hill, Pete Macey and Paul Taylor were third on 83 in the pro am supported by Beyond Storage.
