FIVE wickets from Tim Ingle weren’t enough to prevent Wedmore II from slipping to a 33-run defeat at the hands of Trull II in Division 9SE of the Somerset Cricket League.

Ingle returned figured of 5-50 to help restrict Trull to 215-7 batting first – but the Wedmore chase finished up short, despite half centuries from M Lee (61) and M Wall (58).

In Division 9NW, Huntspill & District II were humbled by nine wickets by Banwell & Churchill having been bowled out for just 117.

A Jarvis led the way to Huntspill with 59, but no other player was able to contribute and the innings collapsed in a heap.

Banwell were rarely tested in reply, cruising home in comfortable fashion.

Elsewhere in the division, Wedmore A also suffered a heavy defeat, going down by 84 runs at Weston-super-Mare III.

Requiring 175 to win, only R McArthur (21) and W McArthur (20) could manage double figures as Wedmore slumped to 90 all out.

In Division Three, Phil Patch scored 47 for Wedmore first team, but that wasn’t enough to stop them sliding to a seven wicket defeat to Uphill Castle II.

Wedmore could noly muster 106 all out batting first, leaving Uphill with a straight forward chase.

M Boley (1-12) and I Harris (1-42) claimed a wicket apiece, but Uphill eased home.
