HIGHBRIDGE Town manager Matt Pitt says his side are “not fearing anyone” as they gear up for their first taste of life in the Somerset County League.

Town host Winscombe, who finished sixth last season, tomorrow (Saturday) – and following a long summer of hard graft to ensure the ground is up to standard, Pitt says the club is raring to go.

He said: “It’s been a lot of work that’s gone into getting the pitch ready and ground up to standard. That’s all been completed now so it’s on to the football.

“Winscombe finished sixth last year so they are a good side, but we’re not fearing anyone this season.

“We’ve won every game in pre-season against sides from the first division, so I’m confident of our chances.

“It’s come around pretty quickly and the whole club is excited and raring to go. The pitch has been widened and the boards are in place around the outside of it, so everything is in place now.”

Pitt’s side then travel to Cheddar the following weekend, before welcoming Clevedon United Reserves.

Town were crowned champions of the Taunton & District League in May and their application to the County League was approved in June.
