CHARLOTTE Humphries is the new Ladies’ Club Champion at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club after a four-shot victory at the weekend.

It is the first time that four handicapper Charlotte, who also represents Somerset at county level, has won the trophy.

Rounds of 77 and 81 were good enough to take the title over the tough Somerset championship links course by four shots from Alice Robinson, who plays off 5, in second place and scored two rounds of 81.

Third place went to another of the pre-tournament favourites and previous winner, Donna O’Connell.

Playing together in the final round, Donna managed to pull back the deficit after a solid start, including a birdie three at the third hole.

She was tied with Charlotte after five holes of the second round but, following double bogeys at the sixth and eighth holes and a birdie by Charlotte at the seventh, Donna was left trying to play catch-up and Charlotte closed out the victory with a solid back nine, including a birdie at the last hole.

The best gross score and winner of the Daily Telegraph qualifier in the Junior Open went to Tom Law from Broome Manor Golf Club with a level par round of 71 – beating home player Tom Barker by three shots.
