Huntspill & District 115 lost to Wellington 2nd XI 139 by 24 runs

FOUR wickets apiece from Sam Lillycrop and Jake Randall wasn’t enough to prevent Huntspill & District from slipping to a 14-run defeat at Wellington on Saturday.

Lillycrop (4-36) and Randall (4-36) tore through the Wellington middle-order to help bowl them out for just 139 – but the Huntspill batsmen were unable to match their performance and were skittled out for 115, with only three players making double figures.

Wellington started brightly with the bat courtesy of good knocks from Trevor Brooks (12), Arron Campbell (31) and Aks Latifi (42) – but the introduction of Lillycrop and Randall triggered a flurry of wickets, as only one of Wellington’s last eight batsmen reached double figures.

But Huntspill had no answer to the bowling of Thom Trott (5-15) as he and Richard Henwood (3-20) ensured the season would end on a losing note.

C. Slack (22), A. Jarvis (28) and C. Organ (26) were the only players to get going, in an otherwise disappointing display with the bat.

Huntspill finished the season in seventh place in Division 3.
