Berrow 2, Stockwood Green 0

TEN-man Berrow ended a run of seven straight defeats with a 2-0 victory over Stockwood Green on Saturday.

The home side got off to a great start, as Jack Taylor beat his marker and put in a great cross, which was turned behind for a corner - Luke McErlain’s inch-perfect delivery was met by Byron Lismore who powered home from close range.

Stockwood came back into the game, but Nick Slack dealt comfortably with a couple of shots and the back four were in solid form.

Taylor and Reddish were starting to see more off the ball but it was still very much a midfield battle, with McErlain and Ash Catlow both excellent.

Berrow suffered a massive blow on 33 minutes when Taylor was booked for the second time, despite appearing to slip when making a tackle.

Berrow sat in and defended in numbers to see out the half, although looked dangerous on the break.

After re-grouping at half-time, Berrow came out and settled into the game well.

Ross McErlain replaced Dave Keirle and went close with a shot on the turn.

Berrow suffered a further blow when Kyle McErlain was forced off with a recurrence of his knee injury, Steve Osgood replacing him.

Stockwood then forced a succession of corners, but led by Lismore, Berrow defended brilliantly with James Gass making a brilliant block on the line.

With 10 minutes to go a cross from McErlain was headed back across goal by brother Ross and Scott Lismore headed onto the bar.

But Berrow sealed the win on 88 minutes, when Catlow won the ball in midfield and played it through to Lismore, who rounded the keeper and forced the ball home from a tight angle.

Berrow travel to Odd Down Reserves this weekend.
