ON the first day of rain for what seemed like many weeks, Pete Barton took the top spot in the October Stableford.

His point card won him the Division One award by two points from Dan Broom.

Two players match Broom's 38 point total in Division Two and a countback was needed to decide that winner. Graham Foy took the honours as he edged out the consistent Neil Barker with a better back nine.

The familiar name of Gordy Wheelaghan topped the Division Three leaderboard with 36 points.

This gave him another victory to add to his summer of success as he relegated Marc Birt into the runners up position with 34.

The Seniors annual home match against Sedgemoor Police ended in a three-all draw.

Although Tony Roper/Andrew Smith and Barry Fisher/Jeremy Savill both won, the captain's Team of the Day had to be the Chris Stephens/Ken Rouse combo, who won by a sizable score of 8&6.

Dai Wood again headed the scorecharts in the October Seniors Stableford.

He carded 40 points to beat a large field of players in the benign conditions of Thursday morning.

Runner up just one point behind was Pete Douglas with John Sherwood taking third ahead of Barry Fisher on countback after they both had 38 points.

Brean Professional Andrew March continued his recent good form as he maintained his top spot in the Total Triumph G&S PGA Order of Merit.

He broke par by one with his 69 at Brean last Wednesday which gave him third spot on the day.

He was beaten by Enmore Park Touring Pro, and his good friend, David Dixon who shot a superb 65 to win by three from Giuseppe Licata.

Licata is still March’s nearest challenger in the Order of Merit after his second consecutive runners up finish.
