THE trio of Simon Baunton, Dave Porter and Stuart Wills always looked to be a pretty formidable team for the Bowmaker Trophy and it proved true as they claimed a two shot victory on Saturday.

Their 126 score was helped by a string of gross pars from 19 handicapper Baunton on the front nine and with the usual steady play from the other two single figure players the win was secured.

It might have been a different story though if the runners up had negotiated the 12th hole slightly better as disaster struck on a hole when all three scores counted.

As it was Stewart Garrett, Jeff Read and Pete Barton took the runners up spot ahead of Tony Groves, Dave Lockwood and John Mardon on 129.

The Brean Seniors concluded their season of inter club matches by defeating their Oake Manor counterparts by five games to one at Brean.

The match saw some large home wins and Barry Fisher completed an unbeaten season for him as he produced another point for Allen Fellingham's troops.

Many of the players who were involved this year attended the final match dinner and they were thanked by Captain Fellingham for the efforts and support shown over the year.

On a windy and sometimes wet Tuesday morning only one player matched their handicap in the Seniors October Medal last week.

Seniors Treasurer Jeremy Savill didn't have to move far to find the winner to pay the prize money as it was himself. His excellent nett 70 beat a trio of players on 71 and a countback saw George Stratford take second from Ken Rouse with Dave Benjafield having to settle for 4th place.

Brean took the runners up spot in the annual Quad Cup played this year at Tall Pines. They won three of their 6 games and in the final reckoning only trailed the hosts for the silverware.

Stuart Wills and Chris Fairchild were the biggest winners for the Brean team ending a massive 11 holes up on their opponents at the end of 18 holes.

The other wins came from Graham Exton & Pete Barton and the Captain/Pro partnership of Paul Jones & Andrew March. Next year they will look to go one better when they host the event.
