Odd Down Reserves 5, Berrow 3

BERROW slipped to an eighth defeat of the season as they went down 5-3 at struggling Odd Down Reserves.

Jack Taylor scored twice and Dave Kierle once for the visitors, but they were left to rue some poor defending as Odd Down took advantage of a number of errors to punish Berrow.

Berrow started pretty well playing some decent attacking football – with Jack Taylor beating his man and playing in James Reddish who sliced wide.

With their first attack, Odd Down took the lead when the unfortunate Scott Lismore deflected a cross past Nick Slack.

Berrow continued to play all the football whilst the home side sat in and played long balls to their strikers – but on 40 minutes Odd Down made it two, when a poorly defended corner was turned in at the second attempt.

With Berrow in disarray, Odd Down made it three with a simple goal that was again poorly defended.

After a half time talking to, Berrow came out fighting and reduced the deficit when Dave Keirle crossed, Jack Smith headed across goal and Taylor nudged it in.

Despite being well on top, Berrow managed to concede again when a poor back pass being easily intercepted and put into the net.

To their credit Berrow still looked to get back into the game and Keirle got on the end of Taylor’s flick to go past the keeper and score.

Berrow were right back in it moments later when Taylor played a one two with Keirle and beat the keeper.

With 20 minutes to go, Berrow went for an equaliser, but a long clearance led to a tangle between Kyle McErlain and the Odd Down striker with both players ending on the ground 40 yards from goal and 10 yards from the touchline – McErlain was sent off for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity, despite two players covering and it being so far from goal.

To make matters worse, Odd Down scored a free header from a free kick.

James Gass made two good blocks to prevent further goals as Berrow were left to rue making some poor decisions defensively all through the game.
