NORTH Petherton are through to the second round of the league knockout cup following a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Wyvern Rangers.

In an enthralling encounter, the sides were level at 4-4 after normal time, Senna Clapp hitting a hat trick for Pethy and Tom Williams adding the fourth.

But Pethy held their nerve to beat Wyvern 4-3 from the penalty spot.

Middlezoy Rovers Reserves were knocked out of the Rowbarton Cup, losing 1-0 at Bishops Lydeard Reserves – and in Division One, Bridgwater Sports close the gap on leaders Locomotives with a 5-1 victory over Porlock. Matty Fursland scored twice, Jason Hitchcock, Dean and Paul Organ all added one each - Harry Scratchard netted for Porlock. On Wednesday evening, North Petherton beat Wyvern Rangers in the Knock Out Cup and the two sides met again in the League with the result reversed, this time Wyvern winning 4-2, thanks to a Chris Hales hat-trick and a Joe Enticott goal. In Division Two, The Gallery and Morganians shared the points in a 1-1 draw – and Division Three leaders Sydenham Rangers marched on with a 5-0 away at Bridgwater Sports Reserves.

Both Martyn Milton and Jason Stephenson got a brace with Jake Adey adding the fifth.

Middlezoy Athletic picked up a 3-2 home win over Bridgwater Grasshoppers in Division Three, with Aaron James hitting a pair and Michael Bird adding the other - Shane Thompson and Ben Patrick scored for Grasshoppers.

Both James Smith and Chris Harman scored for North Petherton Reserves who beat Porlock Reserves 2-0.

Division Five leaders Gallery Reserves had a convincing 7-0 victory over Nether Stowey Reserves to stay top thanks to another quality hat trick from Adam Chappell.

Lee Horsey scored from a Cameron Robilliard crossbar assist, but the goal of the game was scored by Mike Hart with a volley just inside his own half that would make goal of the month all season long. Morganians Reserves lost 2-0 against North Curry – and Bridgwater Sports scored four times in the final twenty minutes to beat Norton Fitzwarren Reserves 4-0.

Gary Howes and Ed Howes bagged two goals each.
