RICHARD May scored 92 at the Ritz Social Club for his team the Rouges in Division 2 of the Highbridge & District Skittles League.

May had five spares and only narrowly missed clearing the diamond on the last hand. his efforts, along with brother Matthew (77), took the Rouges’ score to 513, which left the Four Finger Club trailing by 50, despite an 81 from Colin Fouracres.

Also in this division, Hedgejumpers defeated leaders Little Acorns by 11 at the Railway Inn, Gareth Waterfield top scoring with 71.

In Division 1, Poachers remain top after they defeated the Gunners by 15 at the Crossways Inn, but hot on their heels are Steamers and Bombers.

Steamers’ score of 518 at the Lighthouse Inn left Off The Rails traling by 37, Paul Cozens taking the plaudits with a score of 75. Tony Finka was again in form for Off The Rails, scoring 72.

Bombers outgunned Cowboys at the Bristol Bridge Inn winning by 39. Tony Porter 73 and Steve McCleary 75 did the damage for the Bombers.

Division 3 saw the closest match of the night, where Ghosttrains defeated Misfits by a single pin at the Pawlett Legion.

However, they were indebted to a last hand spare of 15 by Mark Sheppard, which helped them to the 58 required for victory.

Railway Burtle moved into joint second after they defeated Why Try? by nine at the Watchfield Inn.

In Division 4, there was a surprise defeat for leaders Athlectico Madritz, who were undone at the difficult Berrow Inn alley as they went down by four to the Berrow Basics.

With scores of 355 and 351, there wasn’t much cheering all night. Only one spare was hit all night and this was a 17 spare by Tony Difford for the Basics, which proved to be the difference between the teams.

Bellends rattled up 514 at the Ritz Social Club which left Top House trailing by 26, Tony Manlow hitting four spares in his total of 79.

Legionaires have made their best start for at least ten years, making it five wins after narrowly defeating stablemates Bombardiers by four at the Pawlett Legion.
