Somerset County Division Two West

Nailsea Town Reserves 2, Burnham United Reserves 5

ALEC Wilkins returned to form with an incredible 20 minute hat-trick as Burnham United Reserves powered past Nailsea Town Reserves on Saturday.

United continued with their approach to promote youth and picked the youngest team to secure their second league victory of the campaign.

The game started badly for Burnham as Nailsea scored within the opening 10 minutes, with a looping cross that found its way into the back of the net.

However this didn't dampen Burnham's approach and they turned on the style as Alec Wilkins, working his way back to full fitness scored an incredible hat-trick in a 20 minute spell, all three clinical finishes.

Nailsea worked hard to get back into the game, but United defended solidly, with 17-year-old midfielders Mitch Jones and Daniel Butt working tirelessly to breakdown any home team possession.

In the second half Burnham knew they would need to continue to defend strongly with Matt Young and Daniel Giblett playing really well.

Jones and Joe Selway were replaced by Neal A'Barrow and Josh Hussey.

Midway through the second half 16-year-old Ryan Jefferies scored for Burnham straight from a corner and then again near the end, with a fine solo effort, beating three players before drilling past the keeper.

Nailsea scored at the end, but this didn't dent the overall performance from Burnham, who continue to improve.
