BRIDGWATER Town’s Development Centre has celebrated its one year anniversary following a highly successful first year of operation.

This new and exciting partnership between Bridgwater Town FC and Bridgwater College runs on a Monday evening from 7pm to 8:30pm at the College and welcomes new interested players to contact them and undergo a trial.

Bridgwater Town FC Development Centre managers and coaches have been delighted with the progression of all the players and would like to take the opportunity to highlight just a few of the headline successes over the course of the past year.

• Four players have been selected to represent Somerset Schools U16 county team.

• Eight players have been selected to play for Bridgwater Town U18’s and the team sit top of the Somerset FA Floodlight league

• Three players have been involved with Team BC and the Bridgwater Town Reserves Squad. The squad has an average age of just 19 and are currently in 8th position in the Somerset County Premier Division

• Five U18 players have been involved with Bridgwater Town First Team Squad

Jamie Laird (Head Coach of the U16’s) said: “Since starting the Development Centre just over a year ago we have seen a exceptional progression of all players involved and we have now three very strong age groups from U14’s – U16’s.

“It is a real credit to the players and Coaches who have embraced this new Centre and to see so many players progress into Bridgwater U18’s, Somerset U16’s and Bridgwater Town Reserves shows how many talented young players there is locally.”
