IT was a weekend of team events at Brean Golf Club with two trophies up for grabs in varying formats of the game.

Pete Barton shot a best of the day nett 66 in Saturday's Pairs Aggregate Medal and with his partner Martyn Cahill producing a steady if not spectacular nett 75 to bring them victory.

Their 141 total was two better than any other pair could manage in the demanding format needing both partners to play well and avoid any real disaster holes.

A three-way countback was needed to decide the runners up but that was awarded to Pete Dunn and Mike Porter ahead of Richard Triscott/Gordy Wheelaghan and Jerry Brueford/Roy Fletcher.

The Percy Underwood Trophy contested on Sunday morning is a foursomes stableford event and the alternate shot format is possibly the quickest of any golf format.

Partners were drawn with the lowest handicaps being paired with the highest handicaps.

The winning duo of Steve Eley and Pete Dunn didn't hang around as they racked up 41 points and had completed their 18 holes in under three hours.

They won by three points from Phil Hodgson and Gordy Wheelaghan who in turn relegated Tom Broom and Dave Jones into third on countback.
