Highbridge Town 6, Nailsea United Reserves 0

HIGHBRIDGE Town put the disappointment of last weekend’s semi-final defeat behind them with a 6-0 thumping of Nailsea United Reserves on Saturday.

Matt Scott scored four times for Town and Simon Foreacres bagged a brace, as Town cruised to commanding win – and manager Matt Pitt described the performance as ‘absolutely superb.’

“I thought today the boys were absolutely superb after last week’s massive disappointment,” he said.

“We played some exceptional football, with young Morgan (Sealey) making an impact in the game - and with Will Bailey playing a more deeper role and Kane Powell switching to right back, it gave us a much more solid looking base and I am delighted for the boys and especially Matt, after losing his head last week he rebounded with four goals to make his return of 24 goals from 16 games.

“The lads who came in done a great job and staked their claim for a starting spot in the final game against champions Combe St Nicolas on May 2.

“This season has been a great learning curve and I firmly believe that we will be champion contenders next year.”

The game started brightly with both teams looking to play the ball around - and it was Town who struck first after 15 minutes through Matt Scott.

It did not take long for Scott to get his hat-trick with two more goals before half-time - after fine Town build-up play the impressive Morgan Sealey, making a rare start. provided a lovely timed through ball for Scott to finish past the keeper for his hat-trick and put last week’s disappointing sending off behind him.

Town started the second-half cruising at 3-0 up and Scott added his fourth of the game and 24th of the season when, after another fine through ball from Sealey, he muscled his way past the United defender to smash a volley into the top corner.

Simon Foreacres entered the field of play and made an impressive impact, getting on the score sheet for the remaining two goals as Town comfortably outplayed their opposition.
