Somerset Cricket League Division Three
Lympsham 178-4 beat Wellington 2s 177-9 by six wickets
AN impressive batting display earned Lympsham a commanding six wicket win over Wellington 2s on Saturday.
Chasing 177, G Hutton led the Lympsham charge with 88 at the top of the order, while D Luff (36) and J Luff (19) provided support at the other end, as the hosts reached their target in just 28 overs.
Wellington batted first and were in trouble early on as R Davies fell to the bowling of Gooding (3-40).
A Latifi (8) was the next to go and when opener T Brooks (18) was dismissed, Lympsham were firmly in charge of the contest.
M Salter (23) and K Crout (66) repaired the early damage with a good partnership in the middle order – and contributions from J Beal (12), R Henwood Snr (17no) and B Evett (14) took Wellington to a respectable total.
But it was never going to be enough, as Hutton and D Luff got the Lympsham innings off to a flyer.
The former soon passed 50 with a flurry of boundaries as Lympsham closed in on victory – and despite a few wickets falling at the other end, Hutton continued on his way.
He fell 12 runs short of a deserved century, but H Tuttiett (9no) and R Ford (4no) finished the job to maintain Lympsham’s unbeaten start to the season.
Lympsham take on Street 2s on Saturday.
