WEST Indies cricket star Chris Gayle hasn't ruled out making a return to Somerset in future seasons – and even hinted at making himself available for this season’s NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day, if Somerset are involved.
Gayle has amassed 243 runs in just two matches so far making him the second top run scorer in this season’s competition, behind another of Sunday’s centurions, Sam Northeast – and hasn’t ruled out returning to Taunton for a second stint in the future.
“Will you select me?” He asked chairman, Andy Nash, much to the amusement of the gathered press.
“It’s fantastic and I’m really enjoying it.
“I’m sorry that it’s a short stay and I’m really getting more acclimatised now, when I settle in one place I want to be there for quite some time – but there’s just a couple more games and then I’m off, so we’ll see what the future holds for myself and Somerset.”
Gayle was also open to the possibility of returning to Somerset for this season’s NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston on August 29, should they make it through to the conclusion of the competition.
“It’s a possibility,” he said.
“I think the CPL finishes by that time, so we’ll see what happens – fingers crossed we’re in the semi-final or final.”
