Sedgemoor Two

ECVH 0 Burnham 3

BURNHAM put in a tremendous team performance away in Devon which was reflected in most of the team getting POM votes.

Every player gave 100% all over the pitch supporting each other and were determined to come back with all three points.

It could have been a whole lot different had goalkeeper Sian Kelly not been on high alert in the first couple of minutes, as she made a stunning reflex save to stop the home side taking the lead.

Burnham heeded this warning and never looked back.

The front three of Amy Edmundson, Caroline Hunt and Carly Bush looked dangerous and caused problems from first minute to the last.

It was Edmondson who scored their first with a deft reverse flick past the advancing goalkeeper from Hunt’s clever pass.

The midfield of Louise Peace, Ali Evely, Sarah Johnson and Jenna Bushell were strong and dynamic, linking well with attack to create numerous chances but at half-time it was still only 1-0.

Evely was everywhere on the pitch and her energy was infectious on the rest of the team as they strove to keep up with her.

She never gave the home defence any respite and was a constant support for both her attack and defence.

From a penalty corner, Evely had a shot legitimately saved on the line before Bush saw her strike at goal blocked by a foot.

The resulting penalty flick was impressively struck into the top left corner by Hunt.

Imogen Wright & Chelsea Fisher were calm and composed in defence and never looked troubled.

They blocked and tackled everything ECVH threw at them and their subsequent distribution was excellent.

It was Wright that started BOS third goal with a pass out of defence.

Johnson and Peace combined well which forced ECVH into conceding a penalty corner.

Bush and Hunt saw their shots saved and as the ball rebounded out to Peace, she sent an exocet of a cross back into the D where Edmundson swept home her second.

Player of the match was Ali Evely.

Burnham’s next match is on Saturday at King Alfred’s against Taunton Vale (10am).

Training continues on Mondays from 7-9pm.
