Berrow 2 Nailsea & Tickenham 4

BERROW were left wondering how they didn't come away from this game with at least a point after squandering a 2-0 lead to go down 4-2.

Dave Keirle’s side scored twice in the opening 25 minutes courtesy of Kyle McErlain and Jamie Howson – but the high-flying visitors stormed back into the game with four unanswered goals to take the points, much to the disappointment of the Berrow manager.

Keirle said: "We looked good value at 2-0, and I believe we would've got something out of the game had we gone in with our noses in front at half-time.

"I am disappointed because no matter who we are playing I'd expect us to win after leading 2-0.

“Their goalkeeper was the difference - his presence and distribution will win them lots of points this season."

Berrow took the lead in bizarre circumstances when a long clearance from Kyle McErlain looped over the goalkeeper in the wind to give Berrow the perfect start.

Berrow were playing some good football against the wind and doubled their lead when Jamie Howson turned his marker inside out, before hitting an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

This is the point where Berrow came apart, Nailsea pulled a goal back 10 minutes from half-time, with a header from a free kick.

It was 2-2 right on half-time with another header, the winger being allowed too much time to get a cross in and the forward finished easily from two yards out.

Nailsea went 3-2 soon after half-time, another cross was finished expertly at the front post.

Berrow nearly equalised when a McErlain header was tipped over the crossbar with what looked like a certain goal.

The three points were wrapped up for the league leaders when a shot was spilled by Barritt and easily tapped in on the rebound.
