SOMERSET duo Craig and Jamie Overton say there is plenty more to come from them in 2016, after jetting off to South Africa to join up with the ECB Performance Programme.

The twins are just over half-way through their 12-day fast bowling camp in Potchefstroom, and will then fly on to Dubai for a further eight-day camp from November 24 – December 1.

Both enjoyed successful seasons in 2015 across all forms of the game, including a last wicket partnership of 76 from just 34 balls against Yorkshire in the County Championship – but neither will be resting on their laurels ahead of the 2016 campaign.

Craig said: “Things went pretty well for me with bat and ball.

“I didn’t quite manage to get that hundred but I know that it’s going to come sooner or later.

“With the ball, I felt that I went a bit further than I did last year and I managed to get the new ball and get the wickets, which is what I always wanted to do.

“That was massive for me and it’s always great to do it when the team wins.

“This year we didn’t perform as well as we could as a team, but we went in the right direction at the end of the season, which is showing good signs of development going into next year.”

Jamie said: “I felt pretty good about it and I liked the way that I finished the season as well.

“I didn’t play as much as I would have liked to at the start, but come the end I was playing in every game and was very happy to be involved.

“For the first time this year I also played in the NatWest T20 Blast which was a bit weird because I hadn’t played much of that format in my career.

“It was good to get a few games and I felt that I did pretty well.”

During the twins’ entertaining last-wicket stand at Taunton, Jamie struck an 18-ball half-century – but Craig is still confident of reaching the magical three figures before his brother.

He said: “I assume it’s going to be me (to score a century first).

“You never know though, because Jamie can get 100 off 30 balls in any game so we will have to wait and see.”

Looking forward to next season, both Craig and Jamie are hoping to kick on from the achievements of 2015, which saw them receive international recognition.

Jamie said: “We are both off to South Africa to work on our bowling for 12 days in 'Potch' and then we go onto Dubai for eight days, so it should be good.”

“I think we will be looking to carry on with the way we ended 2015.

“We will be trying to improve over the winter, comeback even stronger and keep on taking those wickets.”

Craig added: “It seems a long way off at the minute, but it soon comes around, so we need to try our hardest this winter and be ready for next season when it arrives.”
